PRIVACY POLICY
What we collect when you book your car in, ask for a price or get in touch, why we need it, and who else sees it.
Last updatedThe short version: we use what you send us to book your car in, price your build and look after your car. A few services help us run the website and the workshop, and we list them below. We don’t sell your information.
01Who we are
CADE Technologies is a European performance and servicing workshop at 2/11 Creswell Road, Largs North SA 5016. In this policy, “we” and “us” means CADE Technologies.
This policy explains how we handle personal information, meaning information that identifies you or could reasonably identify you. It is written to follow the Australian Privacy Principles in the Privacy Act 1988 (Cth). It covers this website, the bookings, quotes and enquiries that come through it, and the work we do on your car at our workshop.
We treat your car’s registration number (rego) and VIN as personal information, because they can be linked back to you.
02What we collect
Most of what we hold is what you choose to send us. On this website, that depends on the form you use:
Booking request (Book a Visit)
The service you need; your car’s make, model and year; its rego and the state it’s registered in (optional); your preferred date and drop-off time; your name, phone and email; and anything you add in the notes, such as warning lights, symptoms or modifications. If you book from our package builder or a product page, the booking also includes the package or product you picked and, if you priced it online, its quote reference.
Package price (Performance Packages)
Your name, mobile and email; your car’s rego and the state it’s registered in; the car and build options you pick; and the year and model if you add them.
Contact form (home page)
Your name, email and phone number, the service you’re asking about, your vehicle if you add it, and your message.
CADE Labs and CADE-FLASH forms
Your email address if you register interest in a product. Your email and phone number, and your workshop name if you add it, if you ask for a CADE CONTROL demo. For a free CADE-FLASH calibration claim: your name, workshop name, email, phone, shipping address, and details about your workshop and the tools you use.
With every form. When you send a booking, quote, enquiry or any other form on this website, it also includes your IP address and the approximate location (city, state and country) that our host, Cloudflare, works out from it. We don’t ask your device for its location, and none of this is published on the website.
Online store. Payments in our online store are processed by Stripe: you enter your card on Stripe’s checkout page, and we receive your order and the name, email, phone, billing and delivery details you give there, not your card number. If you send us your order with the store’s order form instead, it goes through FormSubmit like our other forms.
Booking fee. If you book your car in from the package builder, the booking also records that you accepted our Performance Modification Disclosure & Agreement, which version, when, and your quote reference, and any preferred drop-off days you add. The $500 booking fee is paid on Stripe’s checkout page like a store order; Stripe receives your email address, car, package and quote reference and the acceptance record, not your rego.
If you phone, email or visit us, we also keep what you tell us and the details of your car and the work we do on it.
What we don’t ask for. Our own pages and forms don’t ask for payment card details (store payments are entered on Stripe’s page), driver’s licence numbers, dates of birth or sensitive information such as health details, so please leave these out of the notes and message boxes. You can browse the site, or phone us with a general question, without telling us who you are, but we need your name and a way to contact you to take a booking or send a price.
03How we collect it
- From you, through the forms above, and when you phone, email or visit the workshop.
- Automatically, when you open a page. Our host, Cloudflare, receives your IP address, browser details and the address of the page you open. When you start filling in a form, the page asks Cloudflare for the approximate location it works out from your IP address, and adds it and your IP address to the form when you send it. Our pages load their fonts from Google Fonts, so Google receives your IP address and browser details too. Other sites are only told our site’s address, not which page you were reading.
- From vehicle-data services. If we look up your car by its rego or VIN, we may receive details about the car, such as its exact model and specification.
04Why we use it
- To reply to your booking request, confirm a time and do the work.
- To work out your package price and send a copy of your build to our team.
- To identify your exact car from its rego or VIN, so we get the right parts and information for it and can price the right car.
- To pass your enquiry to the right person and understand where our enquiries come from, using the approximate location from your IP address.
- To keep job and service records for your car.
- To follow up on your booking, price or enquiry.
- To send the product updates you signed up for, or arrange the demo or calibration you asked for. You can ask us to stop at any time.
- To keep the website working and to stop spam and abuse, for example by limiting repeated price requests from one connection.
- To meet our legal obligations.
We use your rego and VIN only to identify your car and keep its records.
06Overseas
Cloudflare and Google are United States companies that run their services around the world, and FormSubmit doesn’t say where it keeps data, so information you send or receive through this website may be processed or stored outside Australia, including in the United States. Our email provider, Stripe, MechanicDesk and vehicle lookup services may also store information outside Australia.
07Cookies and browser storage
- Our pages don’t set cookies of their own, and they carry no advertising pixels, social-media trackers or session recording.
- Depending on our security settings, Cloudflare may set its own short-lived security cookie (such as
__cf_bm) to tell people from bots. If Turnstile is switched on, it may use its own browser storage when it runs. - The Performance Packages page has an engine-sound feature that can remember whether you muted it, using one item in your browser’s local storage (
cade_rev_muted, set to 1 or 0). It stays on your device and is never sent to us. - The online store keeps your cart (the items, quantities and prices you add) in your browser’s local storage (
cade-cart-v1) so it’s still there on the next page. It stays on your device until you check out or empty it; only the items and quantities are sent when you go to checkout. - The package builder puts the car and options you choose in the page address so you can share or come back to a build. That address never includes your name, contact details, rego or VIN.
08Security and how long we keep it
We take reasonable steps to protect personal information from misuse, interference and loss, and from unauthorised access, change or disclosure. For example, our booking form and package builder never put your rego in a web address or save it in your browser. Still, no way of sending or storing information online is completely secure.
We keep personal information only as long as we need it for the purposes above and to meet legal obligations. After that, we take reasonable steps to delete it or de-identify it. This can’t reach copies kept by FormSubmit, which we don’t control.
09Access and correction
You can ask for a copy of the personal information we hold about you, or ask us to correct it. Just contact us. We may need to confirm who you are first. It costs nothing to ask, and we’ll respond within a reasonable time. If we can’t give you access or make a change, we’ll tell you why in writing.
10Complaints
If you’re worried about how we’ve handled your information, please contact us first and tell us what happened. We’ll look into it and get back to you.
If you’re not happy with our answer, you can contact the Office of the Australian Information Commissioner (OAIC) at oaic.gov.au. The OAIC can tell you whether it can help with your complaint.
11Contact us
